A message for Pride Month to the McCormack Baron Community

To McCormack Baron Employees, Residents and Partners,
June is Pride Month, and we support and celebrate LGBTQ+ communities and freedoms.
Providing spaces for our residents to feel safe at home with those whom they love is our core product.
At the McCormack Baron Companies, we have built our reputation on respect for and inclusion and empowerment of historically marginalized individuals, households, and communities. That commitment transcends communities of color and those with low and moderate incomes, to include people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
All of our properties are designed collaboratively with local leaders and community members to meet specific community needs. Two of our housing developments in California provide intentional accommodations for those living with HIV/AIDS. Triangle Square in Hollywood was created in partnership with Gay and Lesbian Elder Housing and provides universally-designed, affordable senior housing with units designated for those living with HIV/AIDS. Vista Sunrise Apartments in Palm Springs was created with and sits adjacent to Desert AIDS Project, serving those living with HIV/AIDS, including those at risk of homelessness, putting them side by side with supportive services.
Our support for the LGBTQ+ community is internal as well, reflected in our hiring, business, property management, and employment practices. As part of our ongoing DEI effort, we are committing to grow with you and continually review all our policies with an LGBTQ+ lens, including:
- Inclusive employee hiring practices and employee policies and training
- Inclusive partnership, project management, and leasing practices and training
- Use of gender-neutral language and respect for personal identity, including sharing of and respect for personal pronouns in all materials including policies and procedures, house rules, and marketing materials
Throughout this month and always, please be mindful and reflect on how we can support each other and the company’s MOSAIC. We welcome your ideas for how we can improve our efforts and understanding in this area.
