McCormack Baron Salazar Project Manager to speak at National Urban League Conference

July 25, 2012 | McCormack Baron Salazar

On Thursday, July 26th, New Orleans-based McCormack Baron Salazar Project Manager Monika McKay will speak at the 2012 National Urban League Conference in New Orleans.  Ms. McKay will be a member of the “Housing: Creating Empowered Communities” panel and will speak directly about the McCormack Baron Salazar experience developing the Harmony Oaks community.

Harmony Oaks is a 460 apartment community in Central City, New Orleans on the site of the former CJ Peete public housing complex.  The development of the new, economically-integrated community included not only extensive community input but also involved a comprehensive neighborhood plan and supportive services program, led by Urban Strategies, Inc.  The final community includes the 460 apartments, 22 scattered-site for-sale homes (developed by Harmony Neighborhood Development), a community center operated by Urban Strategies, a new K-8 Recovery School District Charter School, a large, central public park and a planned retail center.
