Choice Neighborhoods Initiative Project Manager to Speak at White House

McCormack Baron Salazar Vice President Yusef Freeman invited to speak at the White House Forum on Urban Innovation.

As one of the leaders of the San Francisco Choice Neighborhoods Initiative in Alice Griffth, McCormack Baron Salazar’s Yusef Freeman has been invited to speak in Washington D.C. as part of the White House Social Enterprise and Opportunity Series on Monday, August 27, 2012.

Joining other leaders in Urban Innovation from around the country, Mr. Freeman will describe his work in creating holistic neighborhoods across the country, from rebuilding the 460-apartment Harmony Oaks neighborhood in New Orleans to his current efforts in the Eastern Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco: the site of one of the country’s first Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grants.

The goals of the forum is to spotlight effective strategies and to build a network of practitioners who can extend the reach and scale of urban innovation, including creating jobs, promoting economic resilience and strengthening communities. Mr. Freeman hopes to underline the opportunities created by increased cooperation between federal agencies to encourage more policies that address the holistic needs of urban communities.
