Community Profiles

In late 2020, the City of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) requested that 3CDC take the lead in the redevelopment of four CRC-controlled properties in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood: Findlay Playground, Grant Park, Over-the-Rhine Recreation Center, and the Elm Street pocket park. In addition to being in various states of disrepair and/or underinvestment, the sites were experiencing significant public safety challenges. 3CDC and the community decided to address this through a transformative, multi-pronged project: The Findlay Community Center.

The project is the construction of a 69,000-square-foot community center that includes a Community and Recreation Center with an aquatics center, gymnasium, roller skating rink, multipurpose spaces, fitness spaces, approximately 12,900 square feet of outdoor park and playground, along with other uses and administrative space. The new space will also include an 8,000-square-foot Early Learning Childcare Center serving 60 children 6-weeks through 5 years old.

The Findlay Community Center will provide equitable access to all community members with free and reduced-cost admission and membership while providing underprivileged youth with opportunities to stay active and engaged. It will offer a diverse range of affordable services and programs that address needs identified through a community engagement process including recreation activities, social events, childcare, and youth and family activities.
