San Antonio, TX

ChildSafe’s mission is to restore dignity, hope, and trust to children traumatized by abuse and neglect. As the only Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) in Bexar County, Texas, ChildSafe provides vital services to a county with one of the highest rates of confirmed child abuse cases in the state. The non-profit’s previous 13,000-square-foot facility no longer could meet the needs of clients or staff. A new, larger facility allows ChildSafe to continue expanding its unique combination of services and serve more clients effectively.

ChildSafe’s new 60,472 square foot Salado Creek Campus includes counseling space, play areas for children, outdoor meeting areas and play areas, office space, shared meeting spaces, training space, a large breakroom, and a resource room containing emergency needs for clients. This resource room is stocked with many different goods, free of charge for clients, including clothes, toys, hygiene supplies, and more.

The extra space not only accommodates ChildSafe’s growing staff but also allows space for the organization’s Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) Partners, which includes the Center for Miracles, Child Protective Services, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Juvenile Probation, and the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office. The ability to bring all resources together under one roof further increases the effectiveness of ChildSafe’s services as it reduces the burden and anxiety produced by traveling from agency to agency.  The total number of children and other individuals that are served by the project is 11,000, of whom 82% are low-income residents.  The new campus is a haven for minor victims and their families as they begin the healing process and embark upon the long, difficult journey through the adult-minded criminal and civil justice systems.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
