Awning Factory*

Orlando, FL

Florida Commercial Awning designs, fabricates, and installs commercial and residential awnings for customers throughout the Southeastern United States, and has been in operation since 1973. The company has a 100,000 square foot production facility, including a dedicated 5,000 square foot sewing department. As the Awning Factory began to expand into new sectors of the industry, they needed more operational space, capacity, and R&D funding.

The expansion of the Awning Factory will create and retain 84 full-time permanent jobs and provide extensive on-the-job training to 100% of its employees. Most new employees have little or no skills in the Sponsor’s trade, and as such, a thorough training program is critical to their success. On-the-job training is conducted by the supervisor of the employee’s department, or in some cases, a qualified lead person. The training on any level typically takes 3 months with lead operators.

100% of non-management jobs will be accessible to unskilled workers, those without a high school diploma, those previously incarcerated, disabled individuals (depending on job-requirements), those who have suffered long-term unemployment, minorities who are disproportionately affected by racial inequality.  A mass transit bus stop is also located next to the facility, providing access to workers without cars.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
