McCormack Baron Salazar recognizes the benefits home ownership brings to our community development efforts. In our efforts to create a continuum of affordability and housing options, we partner with non-profits and smaller developers to incorporate home ownership opportunities that address local community needs for economic development and market momentum.
When developing a home ownership plan, we also look to the surrounding neighborhood. Our approach to for-sale housing depends on the type and price of housing in the surrounding community. We attempt to address failings in the market by providing for-sale housing that is not available in the surrounding area. In distressed neighborhoods with little market rate housing we would look to provide market and affordable housing to foster diversity and a strong economic base to support local businesses and retailers. In hot market neighborhoods we would look to provide more affordable options, filling a critical gap in the market that other developers won’t address.
We take pride in the opportunities our home ownership programs provide to our residents and communities. Often, buyers are alumni of the mixed-income housing development (both affordable and market rate residents) who decide to make a long-term commitment to our community through home purchase.
