Video highlights “Green Streets” and Job-Building Success

Aug 31 2011 in Corporate News

Through its property management affiliate, McCormack Baron Ragan, McCormack Baron Salazar (MBS) is proud to highlight the success of our role in supporting a job- and career-building partnership between Urban Strategies and REDF, which connects California public housing residents with career opportunities.

This video showcases David, one of the REDF/Green Streets participants, who will be receiving a 2011 Stuart Moldaw Step Up Award at a September 30, 2011 ceremony in San Francisco. The Green Streets program is currently active at several California communities managed by McCormack Baron Ragan, helping reduce trash removal costs and boost recycling efforts.

“Green Streets was piloted in three McCormack Baron Ragan affordable housing sites with private sector capital provided by our company,” said David Mauroff, Vice President of McCormack Baron Ragan. “Green Streets has achieved significant accomplishments, including increasing participation in recycling and composting, and has moved rapidly towards financial solvency within a short period of time.  Because of this success, McCormack Baron and Urban Strategies are working to bring the initiative to scale by expanding business services, adding hauling services to existing recycling and composting services, and by expanding geographically.”
