Summer heat spurs coverage of MBS' green building efforts

Aug 21 2011 in Corporate News

St. Louis media outlets highlighted the energy-saving and heat-reducing benefits of solar panels installed at four affordable housing sites and an office building in St. Louis, including McCormack Baron Salazar developments Renaissance Place at Grand, Murphy Park and the St. Louis Housing Authority Central Office Building.

Renaissance Place at Grand and the Housing Authority are part of a LEED for Neighborhood Design-certified community.

The St. Louis Beacon mentions the 2,500 solar panels at Renaissance Place, Murphy Park and the other sites in an article that notes recent research showing solar panels can reduce building heat in addition to saving on energy costs.

Similarly, St. Louis TV station KPLR highlights solar installations at Renaissance Place and the St. Louis Housing Authority Office Building story in a short segment on efforts to save energy and keep cool  during the summer heat.

The solar installations, completed by McCormack Baron Salazar with their Sunwheel Energy Partners affiliate, are part of the company’s broader commitment to sustainable green building and community development.
