William Carson, McCormack Baron Salazar Director of Sustainability, presents at Green Homes & Sustainable Communities Conference

Jul 14 2011 in Corporate News

William Carson, LEED AP BD+C, McCormack Baron Salazar Vice President & Director of Sustainability, was a Conference Faculty member at the 6th Annual Green Homes & Sustainable Communities Conference presented by Nixon Peabody and Enterprise Community Partners in New Orleans, LA on July 13-14, 2011.

Mr. Carson’s presentation focused on creating place-based, transit-oriented, residential and mixed-use developments that maximize transportation options and minimize reliance on automobiles for a wide variety of residents.  He emphasized that creating high-impact sustainable sites requires inspired coordination and planning between public and private entities at the federal, state and local level to assemble and appropriately zone land near rail stations; maximize ridership at transit facilities; integrate public spaces that connect pedestrians, bikes, bus and rail; and encourage income housing, commercial properties, and related services.
