Mike Duffy recognized as an Affordable Housing Finance 2015 Young Leader

August 31, 2015 | McCormack Baron Salazar

Senior Vice President of McCormack Baron Salazar, Mike Duffy, was recently recognized as a 2015 Young Leader by the leading industry magazine, Affordable Housing Finance.

Mr. Duffy is the Director of the Project Finance Group and serves on the executive leadership committee driving strategy and direction for the entire firm.  He oversees the 8 additional members of the Project Finance group, which is responsible for structuring, risk assessing and stress-testing financial models and managing financial closings and all related subsequent capital events across all company development projects.

In addition to closing financing gaps, Mr. Duffy also “bridges the gap” often found in financial leaders: not only does he have a strong acumen with numbers and real estate proformas but he also has strong interpersonal and management skills.

Under Mr. Duffy’s stewardship, the company has closed over three dozen transactions, totaling over $1 billion in total development costs and resulting in the construction of over 3,500 apartments and homes in mixed-income, mixed-use communities in cities across the country.

Mr. Duffy joined McCormack Baron Salazar in September 2005 as a finance manager.  After four years, he took over the reins of the Project Finance Group and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2011. Prior to joining the MBS, Mr. Duffy worked for the Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing and the St. Louis Equity Fund.  He was selected to be a member of and participated in the 2004-2005 class of Focus Saint Louis' "Leadership Saint Louis" program.  Mr. Duffy holds a bachelor's degree from St. Louis University and master's degrees in City Planning and Public Policy from Ohio State University.

Mr. Duffy will join the other Young Leaders to be honored at AHF Live: The Affordable Housing Developers Summit, which will be held Nov. 18-20 at the Fairmont Millennium Park in Chicago.
