Dr. George W. Davis Senior Residence and Senior Center

San Francisco, CA

The Dr. George W. Davis Senior Residence and Senior Center has been a long-standing community dream that started with Dr. George Davis, Executive Director of Bayview Hunters Point Multipurpose Senior Services in San Francisco. Dr. Davis’ vision is a place within the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood that allows seniors, regardless of income, to age with grace and dignity.

The Dr. George W. Davis Senior Residence and Senior Center includes 120 one- and two-bedroom senior apartments available to low-income seniors 62 years of age and older and 14,000 square foot senior center space which includes a conference room, kitchen, lounge, and staff offices. Other amenities include on-site management / leasing offices, community room, fitness center, 54 garage parking spaces, and lounges and laundry rooms on each residential level. The George C. Davis Senior Residence is a certified Platinum LEED for Homes project.

The Dr. Davis Building is the first phase of the Eastern Bayview Choice Neighborhood housing plan which received a $30.5 million Choice Neighborhood Initiative Grant in 2011 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Senior citizens in the Alice Griffith public housing development have first priority to live in the new building. In addition, 23 apartments have been set aside for formerly chronically homeless seniors.

The senior center is operated by Bayview Hunters Point Multipurpose Senior Services and will be accessible for residents and for seniors in the broader Bayview community. Services include noon meals, recreation activities, education classes, health and wellness activities, special events and social services/case management.
