Louis Bernardy, Vice President
Mr. Bernardy joined the West Coast office of McCormack Baron Salazar in November 2007 as Vice President. In his current position, Mr. Bernardy works closely with the firm’s senior management, internal design, construction, finance and legal teams as well as with community stakeholders, external consultants, private sector financial partners and public sector agencies, to visualize and complete new housing and mixed-use development projects.
Mr. Bernardy has over 23 years of experience in the field of community-based economic development with a focus in affordable housing and mixed-use developments as well as in non-profit, community based organizations. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bernardy served as the President and CEO of Los Angeles Housing Partnership (LAHP), a regional non-profit housing development corporation. During his fifteen year tenure with LAHP, Mr. Bernardy led the growth of the organization from a two-person staff with a modest budget and no history of housing production to a well-respected group of 10 professionals and support staff with an annual operating budget of $2.4 million and a portfolio of 16 affordable housing and mixed-use properties valued at $122 million. In addition, Mr. Bernardy and his team created a pipeline of six affordable housing development projects with a total estimated cost of $127 million.
Prior to joining LAHP, Mr. Bernardy served as the first Executive Director of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Development Corporation; a community based non-profit housing development organization. Mr. Bernardy has been active in the nonprofit sector and in the field of community based economic development since 1979.
