| MBS
has developed and managed superior independent and assistive housing since
the late 1970s. Today we have developed and manage 13 senior
housing communities with 1,459 units. These state-of-the-art
developments are shaped by the firm’s commitment to
a philosophy of aging, which supports the right of each resident
to “age in place” in the least restrictive environment.
The result is a safe, attractive residence that encourages
autonomy. Merging a well-designed supportive physical environment
with staff that is professionally trained to work with the
elderly is the keystone of an MBS senior housing community.
In our typical assistive senior housing development, residents and their
families may choose services from a menu that includes meals,
housekeeping, laundry, shopping, personal care, transportation,
and companion service. An on-site home health agency satellite
office provides assistance with medication set-ups and reminders
and managing medical issues. Meals are served in an attractive,
brightly-lit dining room. Recognizing the importance of connecting
seniors to their community, we create partnerships with local
service providers that bring energy and activity to the development
with a variety of activities and services – fitness,
cards and games, special interest clubs, and youth mentoring
opportunities are just a few examples.
A gerontologist assists
the design team to help craft a supportive environment without
an institutional feel. The finance team applies its knowledge
of layered financing to achieve maximum affordability, greatest
variety of services, and highest design quality. Community
partners are brought in at the beginning of the process to
help determine local needs and priorities. The management
company hires staff that has specialized training in social
services and aging.
Our multi-disciplinary approach facilitates the creation of
an outstanding senior housing product.
